Fixing an unbalanced language exchange
You meet a language exchange partner every week: 30 minutes in English and 30 minutes in Portuguese or Spanish. Lately the sessions don’t feel balanced.
Card A: English learner
You feel that most of the hour ends up in Portuguese or Spanish, and your partner rarely corrects your English. Raise this tactfully and suggest some changes.
Card B: English speaker
You hadn’t noticed a problem. You find it awkward to correct people because it feels rude. Respond honestly, explain your side, and agree on a new format you can both try.
